Policy: Editorial Award

The Editorial Bursaries may be presented to the authors of two written papers/articles in Outlook which demonstrate excellence in the area of emergency nursing. The NENA Board of Directors will reward up to a maximum of TWO $750.00 bursaries per year. 

Eligibility:

  • The author must be an active member of National Emergency Nurses Affiliation (minimum of one year)
  • If there is more than one author, at least one  of the author(s)must be an active member of NENA
  • The author is recommended to present the paper/article at NENA national conference
  • The paper contains original work, not previously published by the author
  • Members of NENA board of directors, awards committee and section editors are ineligible to apply for awards

Criteria for evaluation:

  • The topic has a nursing perspective
  • The topic demonstrates relevance to emergency nursing
  • The content is readily applicable to emergency nursing
  • The topic contains information or ideas that are current, innovative, unique and/or visionary
  • The author was not the recipient of any NENA award or bursary in the previous 3 years 

Style:

The paper/article is written according to the established guidelines for submission for Outlook

Selection

  • The papers/articles to be recommended by the Communications Officer and selected by the Bursary & Awards Committee

·      Bursaries will be given only after determination that submitted paper meets criteria for submission to Outlook and the author meets eligibility requirements.

Presentation

The award will be announced at the NENA national conference.
